Tight lots, alleys and old foundations shape home digs in the Twin Cities. Mini machines, mats and a clear restoration plan keep the yard in shape while we work.
Residential excavation in the Twin Cities covers a wide range: a new sewer lateral for a 1915 bungalow, a basement for a teardown rebuild in Edina, footings for a garage off a Minneapolis alley, a pool in Maple Grove, or drain tile around a leaking basement in Golden Valley. Each starts with the same steps: a site visit, a check of the soil, access and utilities, and a Gopher State One Call locate.
Access is often the hardest part of residential work here. City lots are narrow, side yards are tight, and the best way in may be the alley or through a garage. We use mini excavators and compact loaders that fit through tight spaces, protect lawns with mats and plan where spoil and trucks will go before the first scoop. Mature trees and their roots get extra care.
Homeowners also want to know how long their yard will be torn up. Most residential jobs take a few days, and larger digs a week or more, depending on soil, weather and inspections. We backfill and rough grade as soon as the work allows, and the contract says what is included in restoration, such as topsoil, seed or sod. Inspections are booked so trenches are not left open longer than needed.
